The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia to the Russian Federation H.E Alemayehu Tegenu Argaw paid a courtesy call on the Charge’ d’Affairés of the Republic of Kenya to the Russian Federation Mr. Maurice O.A Okoth on Tuesday 24th November 2020.
The purpose of the courtesy was to brief the Charge d’ Affairs on the ongoing security situation in the Federal Republic of Ethiopia instigated by the conflict in the Tigray Region. The ambassador assured the CDA that the government is in full control of the situation.
The CDA a.i. reiterated President Uhuru Kenyatta’s warning during the visit to Nairobi by the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen of the danger of a "full-blown war" and urged parties to the internal conflict in Ethiopia to find peaceful means to end the crisis. He noted that Kenya and Ethiopia remain anchor states to regional peace and cautioned that an unstable Ethiopia could affect not only Horn of Africa but the entire African Continent.
The two also talked on the effects of Covid19 Pandemic and second invasion of locust in Horn of Africa.
