KENYA AND IRAN TO START BILATERAL AIR SERVICES
Kenya and Iran have signed an agreement that will see the establishment of bilateral air services between Nairobi and Tehran. The Agreement, christened BASA (Bilateral Air Services Agreement), was concluded on December 8th – 11th 2009 during a visit by the Roads Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Hamid Behbahani. He was accompanied by two Deputy Ministers, eleven Government officials and three businessmen.
EAC SAMMIT ON NOVEMBER 20, 2009
The Summit which is comprised of the five East African Heads State and a Council of Ministers Meeting was concluded on 20th November 2009 after nine days.
The high level meeting culminated in the Framework on Economic Partnership Agreement (FEPA) that will encompass Trade, Industry, Finance and Investment in the East African community. The meeting was a follow-up to the September 25th meeting in which the foundation for the establishment of FEPA were laid.
KENYA AT UNESCO
Kenya was represented at 35th UNESCO General Assembly Conference of Member States and Associate Members on October 23, 2009 in Paris. The general Assembly meets every two years in ordinary session.
Kenya was represented by the Minister for Education Professor Sam Ongeri who also held talks with the Director General Mr. Koichiro Matsuura during the session. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) coordinates the fields of Education, Natural Sciences, Culture, Communication and Information.
