Ministry of Foreign Affairs embarks on skills development
The Ministry, through the DIPLO foundation and the Foreign Service institute has embarked on a joint training program for skills development for its officers. The first such training was held in March this year at the Kenya Institute of Administration, Nairobi and focused on bilateral and multilateral Diplomacy and the 21st Century Diplomat.
No foreign travel for Kenya Ministers
President Mwai Kibaki has barred Cabinet Ministers and their assistants from travelling outside Kenya to ensure they attend parliamentary debates on the draft Constitution.
PRIME MINISTER RAILA ODINGA IN PARIS
Prime Minister Raila Odinga held talks with the outgoing Director General for UNESCO (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization) Mr. Koichura Matsuura during a visit to Paris in October. They discussed cooperation between UNESCO and Kenya in education and safeguarding of cultural heritage.
KENYA BECOMES A MEMBER OF THE NUCLEAR SAFEGUARDS BODY
Kenya is now a member of the nuclear watchdog safeguards body, which monitors the amount of nuclear materials in the hands of states and other international institutions. In a conference held in Vienna, Austria, Kenya signed the protocol that limits accession, use of nuclear materials by states.
