On 29th November, 2021, H. E. Ben H. O. Ogutu and the Minister Counsellor Mrs. Winnie Mwanjala, paid a courtesy call on Goar Barsegyan, Director of the EEC Integration Development Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The parties discussed the issues of the integration processes in Africa and in the Eurasian Economic Union, and outlined the possible ways for further engagements.
Ms Barsegyan noted the active role of Kenya in the integration processes in Africa at both continental and sub-regional levels. She also welcomed Kenya’s intention to interact with the EEC.
H. E. Ben H. O. Ogutu appreciated the existing cooperation between the EEC and African countries and organizations, such as the African Union and the East African Community. He reaffirmed that Kenya is ready to facilitate the involvement of representatives of the Kenyan business community.
The parties agreed to study the possibility of holding joint events to enhance cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Union and the East African Community, in which Kenya is currently chairing.
